Radius Pizza Tries Something New on Saturdays

A neighborhood pizza joint in Mt. Pleasant aspires to do more this summer. Radius Pizza, run by the husband and wife team of Matt and Lenka Culbertson, launched “Surf and Turf Saturdays” this month. Matt now starts each Saturday with an early morning trip to the wharf in Southwest DC, where he loads up on what’s fresh. Come 3pm when the doors open, Radius Pizza customers can crack crabs and taste Matt’s take on Oysters Rockefeller, among other dishes. “No one else in the neighborhood is serving anything like this, so we saw a need,” Matt tells us. It’s also a good idea to visit Radius Pizza in the summer because Matt is smoking his own brisket and pulled pork, which inevitably end up on pizza, sometimes with house-made pickles.
