GBD Opening Today

Neighborhood Restaurant Group's husband-and-wife culinary team Chef Kyle Bailey & Tiffany MacIsaac's new venture,GBD (for "Golden Brown Delicious"),opens today in the old Yola space in Dupont. The comfort-food menu centers around two deep-fried favorites: doughnuts and fried chicken. Initially, the restaurant will only open for breakfast, lunch, and takeout--all counter service. Within a week, dinnertime table service and late-night snacks and drinks will be added.

Eleven doughnut flavors will be offered on a daily, semi-rotating basis, two of which--the vanilla bean glazed and the cruller--will be fried-to-order. Flavors range from the familiar (coffee cake) to the exotic (grapefruit campari) and will be a mix of pastry mastermind Tiffany's brioche yeast base and an old-fashioned cake base. Breakfast offerings will include scones and a chicken biscuit sandwich, while lunch will feature no-frills fried chicken + sides combos. The dinner menu will be more extensive, including chicken fried steak, a variety of sides, and The Luther sandwich of Churchkey fame. Greg Engert's beverage program of beer, wine, and specialty punches was designed specifically to pair with the rich food.
