Boxing and Burgers Pack One-Two Punch

The newest edition to the budding Rhode Island Row community, TKO Burger, opens its doors May 3. It’s the boxing-themed brainchild of Carolina Kitchen chef/owner Lance London. His big personality and endless supply of energy mean he’s already planning to expand TKO Burger to four other locations. We snapped Lance in the pre-opening phase.

Lance grows even more animated when talking about two things: Boxing and burgers. Scattered around the red, black and gold-hued restaurant is boxing memorabilia, a boxing hall of fame of sorts, speed bags, a custom-made statue of Mike Tyson, and even an old school boxing ring microphone that's used to call orders. Diners can expect soulful stacks like the Southern Fried Green Tomato Burger as well as some dishes that scream Maryland like a soft-shell crab burger. TKO Burger will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 10pm, and Friday through Saturday from 11am to 12am.
