The rooftop at Chef Frederik de Pue's Shaw restaurant, Table, is now open. It seats 32 and is available on a walk-in basis only, though folks with a reservation can snag a rooftop table upon arrival if one is open. When Table first opened, reservations were not accepted. However, that policy was quickly changed; Table is now on OpenTable. (Say that 10 times fast.) Frederik changed the policy because "it was upsetting more people than it was pleasing." Since Shaw doesn't offer too many dining alternatives (yet), it was frustrating for guests to come all the way out there and risk not getting a table. With the rooftop, Frederik hopes to recreate the neighborhood walk-in business he initially wanted. Besides, DC's weather is so volatile that rooftop reservations are never a sure bet anyhow.
