WeWork last month acquired New York-based coding academy Flatiron School with plans to roll it out nationally, and the first steps of that expansion are beginning to take shape.

The co-working giant will open a second Flatiron School campus in Washington, D.C., early next year, WeWork announced Monday. It has not yet released the location or size of the campus.

Flatiron School opened in 2012 at 11 Broadway in New York City's Financial District. The programming school offers accelerated web development classes to help people break into the technology industry.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to impact more students’ lives and continue shaping the future of education by expanding Flatiron School’s on-campus offerings beyond New York," Flatiron School CEO Adam Enbar said in a statement. "We’re thrilled to call Washington, D.C — a top emerging tech hub — home to our next campus."

WeWork has 10 co-working spaces in the D.C. area, its fourth-largest market, plus one of its two co-living spaces, called WeLive, in Crystal City. The company in March chose D.C. as the site for the global launch of its Creator Awards competition, a yearlong initiative to give $20M in grants to startup companies.
