You Should Still be Wary of Federal Contracts

Wondering if it’s safe to start focusing on the feds again? TechAmerica Foundation’s recent forecast of the defense and civil IT budgets say it’s still a prickly market. That said, TechAmerica EVP Elizabeth Hyman says it’s still a massive (in the billions) potential market for companies that are fully invested in it. The IT budget is at $73.7B for FY 2015, but agencies are still trying to cut costs, and they’re still focusing on IT as a commodity. Budget constraints usually mean tech projects get put on hold. Cybersecurity is a big challenge for agencies with security issues slowing down new technologies. And cloud computing, mobility, and information sharing still face cultural and security issues.
