BroadSoft has spent 17 years providing unified communications to the corporate world through providers, never concerned about becoming a household name. But the $217M public company felt that had to change. And that's why it has Taher Behbehani.

The Gaithersburg-based company recently hired Taher as its CMO, after he spent a career in the New York and Silicon Valley tech scenes with startups and corporations like American Express, BlackBerry and Time Warner. As communications enters a new wave of innovation (think mobile and collaboration), the company is rolling out new products. New products include information management services that allow the mobile workforce to manage the daily distraction of emails, phone calls and information. (We can't resist puppy videos during lunch.)

Taher, who spends his days standing, says BroadSoft is also focusing on giving workers apps and information to do their jobs sitting in one environment on their desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. Taher says one of the biggest challenges is packaging these new products for specific industries. BroadSoft is working more closely with service providers to help sell the new products and with customers to create customized packages. Taher, who moved to the US as a teen from Iran, has daughters and divides his time between Florida and DC, and occasionally California and New York.
