It all came down to drinks, food, Mardi Gras beads and a room packed with 400 people. That’s how we honored the region’s top 40 Under 40 entrepreneurs last night in Crystal City. And once again our camera went crazy taking pics.
We found Disruption founder Paul Singh (right) congratulating four of the 40 Under 40 winners: Tammy Cho and James Li from EncoreAlert and Jeff Carbonella and Zvi Band from Contactually. Alex Band, Zvi’s wife, also came to celebrate. Tammy and James met while at Georgetown and have grown their social marketing solution to a seven-person company with $450k in outside funding. Zvi and Jeff have grown their CRM platform solution company to 55 people and $3.5M in outside funding. (Zvi fun fact: He cries at the end of Top Gun.)
EdBacker founder Gary Hensley (middle) brought family and colleagues to help celebrate: Alaethea Hensley (sister), Cliff Andrews (EdBacker’s product development and marketing VP), Alexis Delia Hensley (daughter) and Stephanie Larimore (family friend). Gary is a former teacher, who launched EdBacker to give school groups a way to raise funds.
Brave UX founder and 40 Under 40 winner Lee Finkel is flanked by colleagues Kelaine Conochan and Jordan DeVries. Lee, who has been launching companies since college, started Brave UX a year ago to design and develop application interfaces.
We also snapped EquityEats founder Johann Moonesinghe, with his husband and colleague Andrew Harris. The restaurant crowdfunding platform has been getting some buzz lately for announcing it would sublease five floors in LivingSocial’s former building at 918 F St NW to host five pop-up restaurants starting this spring.
This ThreatConnect team came to celebrate founder Adam Vincent (middle). The bookends are Karen and Leigh Reichel (ThreatConnect’s CFO), and Michele Perry (ThreatConnect board member). Adam’s company offers a SalesForce-like product for the security industry and plans to hire over 40 people this year.
