Haystax Makes Big Buy

Haystax CEO Bill Van Vleet told employees this week that the Tysons-based developer of analytics and cloud solutions has acquired NetCentrics, a far larger company. (Forget Rudy, we want this made into a movie.) Bill says it’s always been Haystax’s strategy to grow organically and through acquisitions. This purchase takes the company from 75 to 350 employees and to $100M in revenue. NetCentrics, which specializes in cybersecurity and network management solutions, brings Haystax more defense and federal business, with customers like the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, Army, and DOD.

Haystax provided its situational awareness and public safety threat analysis technology to this year’s Boston Marathon. Its previous purchases include Digital Sandbox and FlexPoint, and Bill says the expansion strategy will continue for the next three to five years. The plan is to grow Haystax to a mid-tier cybersecurity company. Haystax will keep its Tysons HQ, along with NetCentrics’ Herndon and Raleigh, NC, offices. Haystax is hosting an acquisition party next Tuesday where employees will get to know each other.
