When you create one of the biggest technological innovations of all time, you want it in as many hands as possible. That's why Google chief Internet evangelist Vint Cerf is behind the company's recent grant award to the Internet Society that'll extendInternet exchange points in emerging markets. IXPs allowInternetservice providers and other network operators to exchange traffic locally. They can also lower costs, speed up Internet use, and improve performance. The Internet Society has been working on getting IXPs in emerging markets for several years and has trained locals to be IXP experts. We're just happy Honey Boo Boo will finally go international.
