Startups that need guidance have a friend in Arlington County's new entrepreneur-in-residence program. Aseasoned entrepreneur will be available eight hours per week and willhold quarterly workshops. The commitment is for 6-12 months in exchange for office space at Arlington Economic Development. Arlington biz dev guru Jennifer Ives says the program is modeled after ones at universities and VC firms and is an extension of the county's wildly popular BizLaunch program.
Lemur Retail co-founders Will Fuentes and Cary Scott will be the first EIRs and already have several appointments lined up. (Lemur's product helps retailers price and move inventory based on consumer demand.) Jennifer says the county will choose EIRs from anywhere in the region and from any industry. Their advice will be things likehow to pitch to a VC or what events they should attend.
