How do you celebrate 90 years? By hanging out with youngins, of course. The Fairfax Chamber of Commerce will turn 90 next year and CEO Jim Corcoran says one item on the agenda is wooing younger members. It's the largest chamber in Northern Virginia—with nearly 650 members—and will launch a Young Professional Council this fall. It will organize interactive events like a dinner for 20 at someone’s house and encourage reverse mentoring, where older members can get some guidance from Millennials. The chamber is also planning a separate board for young professionals and developing career programs.

Jim, originally from Philly, says the chamber will also launch an awards program, called the Greater Washington Innovation Awards. Nominations for the best innovations run October through January and the awards will be in late April. The chamber will continue organizing thought leadership events and connecting members to government and industry insiders. Public policy is also a major focus, with transportation, education, and health care on the agenda. Fun fact about Jim: He’s an avid golfer (7 handicap) and rates courses for Golf magazine. He’s also the commissioner of the Northern Virginia B Team Golf League.
