Gaithersburg-based BroadSoft is expanding its global reach with the acquisition of PBXL, a Japan-based cloud communications provider, announced BroadSoft CEO Michael Tessler. The company, which has made other recent acquisitions to expand its BroadCloud product in Europe and Asia, says unified communications service providers will be able to target a Japanese market of 5 million small businesses that cover over 70% of Japan’s workforce, which the company believes is underserved. BroadSoft did not disclose the purchase price, but it expects the acquisition to contribute $1.5M in revenue.
