Bechtel Grows In Reston

Bechtel Corp announced today it’s relocating 700 jobs to Reston from its Frederick, MD, operation as part of a global restructuring. Bechtel is leasing up to 175k SF for the expansion and plans to invest $10M in Fairfax County as part of the move. It’s the second time in less than four years that Bechtel has announced plans to grow jobs in the county, says Fairfax County Economic Development Authority president Jerry Gordon (above). The San Francisco-based engineering, project management, and construction company with 58,000 employees in 40 countries relocated its global operational HQ to Reston in 2011. Bechtel was the lead partner of Dulles Transit Partners, the contractor responsible for building the first phase of the Silver Line.
