App That Speeds Up Hospital Care Gets CIT Funding

CIT GAP Funds has invested in e-Kare, a Fairfax company spun out of Children’s National Medical Center in 2013 that speeds up the time it takes to assess and monitor chronic wounds. A 3-D image is taken using a mobile app and a HIPAA-compliant cloud management platform stores and analyzes those images in less than a minute. Chronic wounds include ulcers, severe burns and surgical wounds, and affect over 6.5 million patients in the US and cost over $25B.
