Following a leadership shake-up last year, KLNB is changing its brokerage strategy and its home base.
The firm is shifting its HQ from Towson, Maryland, to 1130 Connecticut Ave. NW and plans to hire a new D.C. office leasing team, the Washington Business Journal reports.
In May, KLNB brought on Marc Menick from Peterson Cos. to serve as president and chief operating officer, coinciding with the retirement of Managing Partner Andy Georgelakos.
KLNB, a 50-year-old firm with 80 total brokers, will still maintain its Towson office, though it does not expect to add to the 30 brokers who work at the location. The Downtown D.C. office is replacing an office the firm had in Chevy Chase. It is also closing a Dulles office and moving those employees to a new, 11K SF Tysons office.
The firm expects to hire another 10 to 15 brokers in D.C., many of whom will focus on office. Menick told the WBJ he hopes creating a larger office leasing team will encourage property owners to retain the firm to lease both office and retail for mixed-use projects.
