Marriott International is on the hunt for a new HQ when its lease expires in 2022, and the Friends of White Flint want to put the Pike District on its radar. The group of residents, developers and business owners thinks the hotel would be a perfect fit for the redeveloping community, bringing jobs and stability. Marriott has about 2,000 employees at its Bethesda HQ and CEO Arne Sorenson is looking for a new location that is transit-friendly and would appeal to a younger workforce, Bethesda Now reports. The White Flint development's philosophy of a walkable, transit-oriented community right near the White Flint Metro station seems to fit the bill. [BN]
