A new trend among developers will not alleviate the hassle of parking in the District. Several new developments are being planned that offer absolutely no parking spaces. Justification is provided by the arguments that they're near transit options and target Millennials. The BZA has approved several of the projects but is beginning to realize the trend may be getting out of hand. BZA chairman Lloyd Jordan raised concerns about PGN Architects’ planned 200-room hotel with zero parking spaces and approval for the project remains up in the air, Curbed reports. Developers SB-Urban and Rooney Properties were approved to construct a 121-unit in Shaw’s Blagden Alley with zero parking spaces. As part of the approval process, the developers agreed to pay $70k for a new Capital Bikeshare station. Developer Mehari Sequar received approval for a 28-unit residential development at 1401 Florida Ave NE due to easy accessibility to the H Street streetcar. [Curbed]
