County executive Isiah Leggett (pictured with his wife at a Gaithersburg parade) and Acting MCDOT director Al Roshdieh introduced Montgomery County's first public electric vehicle charging stations yesterday at Bethesda's newest parking garage. The Capital Crescent Garage was built by the county and developers StonebridgeCarras and PN Hoffman, and has three stations capable of charging up to six vehicles at a time. The developers are building The Darcy condos and The Flats apartments above the garage, which was once home to a parking lot, reports BethesdaNow. More charging stations will arrive in Bethesda garages at Woodmont Corner, Auburn-Del Ray and Waverley throughout the summer; eventually there will be enough charging stations countywide to charge 50 vehicles simultaneously. The new spaces allow for up to four hours of parking and will cost users 13 cents per kilowatt hour. [BethNow]
