Transwestern Commercial Services is launching a new structured finance team in its D.C. office led by two brokers it hired from JLL.

Andrew Asbill and Trevor Campbell joined Transwestern as managing directors, and their Mid-Atlantic team will focus on equity and debt placement.

The two brokers have a combined 36 years of commercial real estate experience and have worked with clients including JBG Smith, Foulger-Pratt and DSC Partners. Asbill spent the last three years with JLL and previously worked with Sage Capital Advisors and Cushman & Wakefield. Campbell spent five years with JLL and his previous companies included Phillips Realty Capital, Penzance and West, Lane & Schlager.

"This new service line is a significant benefit to our clients who are looking to solve capital needs," Transwestern Executive Managing Director Phil McCarthy said in a release. "Andrew and Trevor have a solid track record of approaching projects creatively to solve complex financing needs, and their contributions to Transwestern's clients in the Mid-Atlantic will further establish the firm as a market leader."

Their departure from JLL comes two months after the publicly traded brokerage completed its acquisition of HFF. In a statement, JLL Mid-Atlantic Market Director Chris Molivadas said he and the company "wish them the best in this next chapter of their careers."

"The HFF merger has provided enormous benefit to JLL and our clients," Molivadas said. "We are actively working to locate HFF within JLL by the end of this month to further solidify our capital markets group as one team. With any merger there are growing pains and adjustments, but we look forward to what the future means for our clients."

Transwestern also announced the launch of a new D.C. healthcare services team with a new hire. It brought on Ken Smondrowski as vice president of healthcare advisory services to work with Transwestern's Joe McCormick on acquisition, disposition, leasing and portfolio management of medical office space.

Smondrowski joins Transwestern from Health-Pro Realty Group, where he focused on D.C.-area healthcare real estate deals. Before that, he worked for RMR leasing and managing office space.

"Ken brings deep knowledge of the local healthcare sector and a proven track record that will be a valuable resource for healthcare real estate owners, investors and occupiers throughout the region," McCarthy said.
