The American Diabetes Association started looking at its real estate options in late 2013, three years before its lease in Alexandria, VA, expired. The large association decided to move to a building in Crystal City that offered better rates and tenant improvements, says ADA’s Doug Meyer (on the left, with colleague Rodney Cannon), who will speak in more detail about the move at our event. The association also considered Arlington, Alexandria and Falls Church.
So why not Capitol Hill, where so many other associations feel they need to be? Doug says ADA didn’t want to affect employee commutes, narrowing its search to the I-395 corridor in NoVa. It also holds several events per year and was attracted to the large courtyard in front of its new Crystal City location. The move, which is coming in September, also allows more brand recognition in its color scheme, with signage on the outside of the building. Want to hear more?
