Affordable housing shortage: Since 2000, Arlington has had a net loss of 13,500 affordable rental homes; in 2000, 27% of housing in Arlington was affordable and today it’s 9%.

Memorable project: Arlington Mills—opened a year ago on Columbia Pike. Arlington County built five-story community center and underground parking garage on two-acre site and APAH built 122 apartments above the back of the county garage. Project cost $32M and came in below budget and on time.
Current project: Turning surface parking lot at older garden apartment complex into 229 apartments. Going through county approvals and construction set to start Q1 2016.
