How Charlie Sheen Is Helping

Charlie Sheen’s recent announcement that he’s HIV-positive is helping awareness organizations like the American Sexual Health Association share their message. It offers them an opportunity to encourage people to get tested and know their status, reports Associations NOW. That lack of awareness leads to 50,000 new diagnoses and 18,000 HIV deaths annually. The groups can also clear up misconceptions that HIV is a gay man’s disease or that if you have HIV, you also have AIDS. [AN]
