We were thrilled to host our Lodging Investment Summit as the first public event at the new Marriott Marquee in DC. AHLA CEO Katherine Lugar, right, who just celebrated one year representing the hotel and lodging industry, was interviewed by RD Jones’ Rebecca Jones. An Austin native, Katherine urged the crowd to get more involved in the legislative process, something this industry hasn’t traditionally done. She's concerned about Obamacare, since so much of the law is still uncertain. Companies should be talking to policy makers now instead of waiting for a new administration. She’s also keeping a close eye on how localities are handling the minimum wage and what the Administration will do with overtime pay.
