A Twist on The Ice Bucket Challenge

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge—which has raised over $100M—has inspired a critical video from Russell Simmons and PETA regarding the ALS Association funding animal testing. Russell put out a video that shows him standing next to a cooler of ice and voicing his support for fighting the ALS disease. But he stops short of dumping the ice on his head to protest animal testing. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk recently supported the video and posted her own showing an animal being rescued from a testing lab. The ALS Association has responded to some criticism but hasn't tackled the animal testing claim. Ice Bucket Challenge gifts have ranged from under $1 to $200k.
