There were so many groundbreakings during Art Basel it’s a wonder Miami didn’t run out of shovels. SLS Lux Brickell, which will feature a mix of 450 residences and 85 suites, broke ground concurrent with Art Basel, since the development will feature museum-quality art in all its common areas, including works by Fernando Botero and Matias Duville, among others, and an exterior art mural installation by Fabian Burgos. Execs from SBE Entertainment Group, interior design firm Yabu Pushelberg and The Related Group were on hand to turn some dirt.

Italian designer Piero Lissoni, The Related Group and partnering developer Alta Developers shoveled some of Edgewater to kick off their latest project in the neighborhood, One Paraiso. The property, which will offer 270 units in 53 stories, is the second of four towers that will soon make up the Paraiso master planned community.

Starchitect Zaha Hadid’s first project in the Western Hemisphere, One Thousand Museum, also broke ground, with Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado and Commissioner Marc Sarnoff presenting the key to the City of Miami (Marc and Zaha are snapped here with the key). One Thousand will have 70 half-floor units, eight full-floor penthouses and a double-story penthouse. There’s no doubt about its ultra-luxury condo chops, with prices beginning in the mid-$5Ms.
