The site of Ocean World, a well-remembered but defunct Florida attraction, will soon be home to the 394-unit Broadstone Harbor Beach apartments. Berger Commercial Realty SVP Steve Hyatt (snapped with his family in Snowmass) tells us that the site on the 17th Street Causeway near Pier 66 is prime for apartments now, considering that it's near the beach, shops, restaurants and more. Steve repped Alliance Residential Co in its $22M purchase of the four-plus acres at 1701 SE 17th St from Art Institute Investments.

Ocean World was an old Fort Lauderdale attraction, and the land has a storied history, Steve notes. "I can still remember going to the aquarium's dolphin show on a school field trip." The attraction, which closed in 1994, featured "Davy Jones’ Locker," home to “The Flying Dolphin Show,” along with sea lions, otters, sea turtles, alligators and tropical birds. Plans for the new use include eight stories of apartments; 2,700 SF of retail space; and a 4,600 SF retail outparcel, with groundbreaking set for Q2.
