New LMC Apartments Capitalize On Demand For Non-Urban Living

Urban core apartments in Seattle might be getting most of the ink (to use a slightly obsolete term), but multifamily developer LMC is betting on outlying markets — especially those with easy access to Washington state's outdoor amenities.

Recently LMC, which Lennar launched in 2011, opened the 344-unit Atlas Apartments at 1036 7th Ave NW in Issaquah.

"The community is designed to fit with the eclectic feel of Issaquah," said LMC VP of development Dan Shieder. "That vibe has made Issaquah a popular place to live."

Outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to the area for a variety of reasons, Shieder said. The community is near Lake Sammamish State Park and the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park, and is adjacent to the central Issaquah trail system. It's also about 30 minutes from the Alpental and Summit at Snoqualmie ski areas.

Atlas is the first development to open under the Central Issaquah Plan, a comprehensive zoning update the city adopted in 2012 to help guide the long-term evolution of central Issaquah. The plan prioritizes environmental protection, jobs, housing and rapid transit as development objectives, with the goal of creating a more sustainable area in Issaquah’s core.
