Sir Richard Branson Does DC

You didn't think Sir Richard Branson would sit back and let Donald Trump have all the DC hotel fun, did you? His Virgin Hotels plans its own entry in to the nation's capital.Allie Hope, development and acquisitions head for Virgin Hotels (obviously not pictured above), tells us its eventual DC site could be a ground-up development, historic conversion, or even a management deal. There's no deadline on finding a site, she says, as Virgin will wait for the right opportunity. Nor is it narrow-minded on location, though theDC proper is the likely destination, noting it looked at bidding for theWest Heating Plant as well as the Southwest Waterfront. (It's also rumored it looked at purchasing theEmbassy Row hotel.)
