A Starbucks-owned bakery company is coming to Red Hook, foretelling a further expansion of the coffee giant's business model.

Princi, a Milan-based bakery acquired by Starbucks, has leased 18K SF at 160 Van Brunt St. in Red Hook, at a site formerly used for ship repair by Golten Marine. LIVWRK now owns the five-building property, and will add Princi to a location that will also boast a Tesla showroom, the New York Post reports.

Starbucks plans to use Princi products for its Reserve Roastery locations, which boast more upscale equipment and techniques to combat the local, artisanal coffee makers that have redefined the coffeehouse industry in the last few years. The first Reserve Roastery in New York will open at 61 Ninth Ave. next year, in the ground floor of Aetna's new corporate HQ.

The Princi facility will have open kitchens, and plans for a potential commissary open to the public once the production side is up and running. LIVWRK had been asking for $44 per SF for the location, though terms of the lease were not disclosed.
