TerraCRG founder and CEO Ofer Cohen will become the new chairman of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, replacing L&L MAG founder MaryAnne Gilmartin.
Cohen has been on the board of the partnership since 2014, Commercial Observer reports. He is also on the board of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the Brooklyn Hospital Foundation.
“Downtown Brooklyn is the beating heart of the borough and, with all the infrastructure put in place by both the public and private sectors, is well positioned to become the bloodline for New York City’s continued growth trajectory,” Cohen said in a statement. “The Brooklyn renaissance has ushered in a new wave of opportunities.”
Cohen founded Brooklyn-focused TerraCRG in 2008, after working as a broker for Massey Knakal’s Brooklyn office. The firm now has 30 employees and has closed more than $2B worth of deals in Brooklyn, according to its website.
Gilmartin served as the partnership's chair for four years, and said the partnership has helped “transform the area into a premier hub for business, tech and higher education.”
In January, Gilmartin left her role as CEO of Forest City New York — which built MetroTech and the Barclays Center in the neighborhood — to strike out on her own at L&L MAG. She joined with Robert Lapidus and David Levinson of L&L Holding Co. to create the company.
