| We visited The Algonquin Hotel's Blue Bar recently and stopped in the lobby to request a visitation with the hotel's famous cat, Matilda. During Jan. 1 to May 24 renovations, the four-year-old rescue lived upstate with a hotel employee. She now has an electronic pet fence to keep her out of the food-service area (in response to a 2011 Department of Health order), and The Algonquin's Doomy Midouin tells us she's a little leery and hangs out in the back a lot these days, but the hotel's 10-foot Christmas tree, a favorite hangout, may lure her back into the social world. |
