Steve Wynn took over his father’s bingo parlor after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. He would go on to build one of the gambling industry’s most dazzling fortunes.

Wynn’s casino empire includes The Mirage, Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas. Early in his career, he fixed up and expanded the Golden Nugget casino, one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. Frank Sinatra was known to play there, and Wynn remains close with the Sinatra family.

Wynn’s art collection is valued to be tens of millions of dollars. He owns work by van Gogh and J.M.W. Turner, among other prominent artists. — Scott Klocksin
