KENT HANDLEMAN

Having joined Lincoln Property, where he's involved in developments down at Playa Vista, from Thomas Properties Group in 2011, SVP Kent Handleman said that "what we found out collectively"--especially in talking tocreative, media, and tech firms--is that tenants want something different than in his former world in Downtown LA. He said the buildings that Lincoln completed in Playa Vista in 2009 weregreat buildings, designed by Scott Johnson--extremely efficient, LEED Gold, high-quality construction. However, after looking at successful adaptive-reuse projects built by others such as Hercules and The Reserve, the company came to the conclusion with its capital partner that it's "not really what the tenants want. We termed it as: We built our father's office building." The company has hired Gensler to help it reposition and transform the project.
