Bucksbaum Retail Properties Founder

John Bucksbaum is the former CEO of General Growth Properties, a retail real estate firm founded by his father, Matthew. In 2009, the firm, then a REIT with tens of billions of dollars in both real estate equity and debt, filed for bankruptcy. It was the largest real estate bankruptcy filing in the U.S. in decades, and the largest ever by a mall operator.

Bucksbaum now serves as CEO of Bucksbaum Retail Properties, a privately held company he founded in 2012. He has served as worldwide chairman of the International Council of Shopping Centers. — Scott Klocksin
