Power Women!

Bisnow was thrilled to celebrate the top 60 women in LA commercial real estate with over 400 friends, supporters and sponsors last week at Hotel Casa del Mar.

Bisnow's power women are people who are pushing boundaries, and changing the built environment and the commercial real estate industry. They are also leaders and role models who are inspiring and nurturing the next generation (many of whom joined us for great networking and to rub shoulders with the movers and shakers).

The event was the culmination of our seven-part series of profiles, telling how these extraordinary women rose to their positions of influence. (You can read part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5part 6 and part 7).

We snapped Watt Companies president and honoree Nadine Watt (second from right) celebrating with sister Kathy Watt, Allen Matkins founding partner Mike Matkins and Allen Matkins operating partner John Tipton. Fifteen years ago, Nadine was a film development exec when her father, chairman Scott Watt, invited her to come back to the office. Today she manages a 6M SF portfolio of multifamily, industrial, office and retail properties, as well as Watt's oil and gas operations.

We snapped honorees Pircher Nichols & Meeks partner Stephanie Silvers, Canyon Realty Advisors senior managing director and head of asset management Maria Stamolis, Karney Management CEO Aliza Karney Guren.

Here's Marcus & Millichap VP capital markets Anita Paryani Rice, Holland & Knight partner Susan Booth, Sheppard Mullin partner Pamela Westhoff.

Cassidy Turley managing director and principal Suzanne Lee and Bringing Back Broadway executive director and downtown economic development director Jessica Wethington McLean. Bringing Back Broadway is a 10-year plan to revitalize the historic Broadway corridor; as director of Downtown economic development, Jessica oversees $10B in commercial and hotel development.

CBRE capital markets EVP Valerie Achtemeier with Hackman Capital Partners senior managing director Theresa Jones and Allen Matkins founding partner Rick Mallory. Given the limited number of females on the principal side of real estate, Theresa advises that women embrace this advantage. "You stand out, so leverage it," she says.

And here's NewMark Merrill Companies COO Susan Rorison celebrating with CEO, president and founder Sanford Sigal.

Allen Matkins partner Crystal Lofing, CBRE’s Barbara Emmons (displaying sister and CBRE vice chairman Darla Longo’s award) and Allen Matkins partner Erin Murphy. Barbara has been on the board of CBRE Women's Network since it began roughly 15 years ago and is a strong proponent of encouraging women in the business. Crystal and Erin both made partner at Allen Matkins this past July.

The Ratkovich Co. COO and EVP Clare De Briere, NAI Capital SVP and director of entertainment Angelle Grace Ghiz-Wacker, and president and CFO Rachel Howitt. Angelle is know as the broker to the stars (think: Kenny Rogers, Kevin Costner and Sylvester Stallone) while feeding her appetite for fun real estate: restaurants, shopping centers, movie theaters, hotels and nightclubs both nationally and internationally.

Tomorrow, our editor-in-chief Sibley Fleming heads to the Windy City, where we'll celebrate the top 50 Chicago power women at the Trump International Hotel and Tower. Then our final event of the year will be held on Dec. 15 in Boston where we'll toast the top 50 power women at The State Room. To learn more about Bisnow Power Women project, click here.

Above, we snapped presenting sponsor and valued partner Allen Matkins partner Eleanor Ord congratulating the winners. We’d also like to thank National Asset Service, Pircher, Nichols & Meeks, CBRE, NewMark Merrill and Lincoln Property Co. for their support of this important initiative.
