The group sponsoring an anti-development Neighborhood Integrity Initiative ballot measure has announced it will wait to pursue the initiative if LA Mayor Eric Garcetti addresses concerns it has about city planning.

The Coalition to Preserve LA says it has gathered more than enough signatures to put the initiative on the ballot in March. The ballot initiative would impose a two-year moratorium on the majority of big projects.

The organization will submit the signatures to the city on Wednesday if Mayor Garcetti does not go along with its requests to change the city's planning policies, according to Curbed.

Among the group's desires are to restrict private meetings between developers and city officials, put an LA general plan on the fast track and create a rule that would prohibit developers from choosing the consultants who conduct environmental studies on proposed developments.

Another initiative, Build Better LA, which aims to provide more affordable housing and increase local labor jobs, is scheduled for the November ballot. Industry leaders have warned against what could happen if both measures pass. [Curbed]
