Sawtelle Boulevard May Get A New Multifamily Project

A Sawtelle strip mall may be demolished to make way for a five-story multifamily property.

The development at 11460 Gateway Blvd. would include 129 units with 15 being set aside for residents who make less than half of the area's median income. There will be 63 studios, 60 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom units.

The project is designed by DFH Architects with the apartments on top of a two-level underground parking structure with 154 spaces for cars and 146 bike spaces, Curbed reports.

There would also be 17,776 SF of open space while proposed amenities for residents include a gym, a barbecue area, a lounge and a rooftop community garden.

Construction on the project could begin next year, taking about 20 months to complete.

Another project being planned in the same area is the massive Martin Expo Town Center at Olympic Boulevard and Bundy Drive.

The project, to be built on five acres, would include 516 apartments, retail and office space, open space and a renovated Martin Automotive Group location.
