A new project in Inglewood plans to transform a vacant lot at the corner of Locust and Queen streets into a senior center.
The development, which has been in the works for more than a decade, is being designed by Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio. There will be skylights and plenty of windows in the 35k SF, low-rise facility, according to Urbanize LA.
Gwynne Pugh, founder of Gwynne Pugh Urban Studio, tells Bisnow the studio has done work in Inglewood previously.
The studio is regularly involved in "projects of social consequence" across the city, focusing on developments that will not just be used for private clients but also have an impact on the general public, Gwynne says.
Local senior citizens were given the opportunity to offer their input. The project was funded through a HUD Economic Development Initiative Grant and a Community Development Block Grant.
The firm gkkworks was the architect for the project. Pinner Construction was the contractor. [ULA]
