LA's organizing committee for the 2028 Olympic Games bid is requesting the games be taken out of state legislation that would make it easier to build transit projects.
State Sen. Steven Bradford, who represents Gardena, proposed a bill that would exempt transit-related projects for the games from the California Environmental Quality Act. 2028 CEO Gene Sykes said the legislation is not necessary since the Olympics would not require building new transit, the LA Times reports.
The Olympics Committee reportedly did not request the legislation.
The bill, SB-789, also includes major relief under CEQA for a proposed NBA arena in Inglewood near the Forum for the Clippers.
