The bitter battle over Measure S has come to an end with the ballot measure being defeated in Tuesday's election.
Nearly 69% of voters cast ballots against the measure that CRE experts warned would have been devastating for development, the LA Times reports.
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti also won re-election Tuesday. He had vigorously campaigned against the measure.
Those who supported the "No on S" campaign said some things still need to change where the city's planning process is concerned. Affordable housing in LA is still a priority.
Measure S had aimed to implement a two-year moratorium on big developments that would have needed exemptions from some planning requirements. Developers argued that passage of the measure would have brought development to a halt and made the housing shortage worse.
