SUSTAINABLE RESULTS; THE DEAL SHEET

Sustainability is a broad concept that has different meanings for real estate professionals around the world, says Tishman Speyer director of sustainability Riggs Kubiak, who will be speaking at Bisnow's first annual Sustainability Summit this Thursday at the NY Bar Association. It's important to bring together cross-functional groups to collaborate on initiatives, he tells us.
We snapped Riggs yesterday on top of one of Rockefeller Center' s many green roofs. At Tishman Speyer, over 11M SF of its office properties have achieved LEED certification, while another 40M SF have been registered and are in process. Tishman Speyer's also using EnergyStar to benchmark its entire US portfolio, while conducting rigorous internal energy audits globally to insure energy efficiency measures are in place.
The company just announced that its 1M SF 375 Hudson St. has been awarded LEED-EB Gold, the first existing office building in NYC to do so through improvements and retrofits—it reduced electricity consumption by nearly 110k kWh annually. Hear more when Riggs joins the expert panel of GSA's Eleni Reed, Related's Charlotte Matthews, Grubb & Ellis' Michael Groppi, CodeGreen Solutions'Christopher Cayten, Israel Berger & Associates' John Hannum, U.S. Energy Group's David Unger, Arent Fox's Stephen Del Percio and FTI Schonbraun McCann Group's Elizabeth Kulik.
