Mary Kay's famous pink house is being demolished.
The mansion at 8915 Douglas Ave. in the Old Preston Hollow neighborhood was built for the late Mary Kay Ash, founder of the Mary Kay line of direct-sale beauty products, in 1984. It has been well-known in the area for years for its lavish stylings, marble decorations and landscaping. Dallas Central Appraisal District listed the property's value at $1.91M, though the condition of the house was considered very poor, according to Candy's Dirt.
The property was listed in 2007 for over $5M, but sold for $1.9M in 2015. Demolition permits were granted on March 6, though the new owner (listed as Pelicans Corp. Services) had reportedly been attempting to tear the house down for months. The outer shrubberies will be maintained for the neighbors.
