Demolition of a South Loop parking garage is in progress, the first step by hoteliers Su-Mei Yen and Hui-Hsien Bert Yen to redevelop the site into a Hilton Hotel.
The low-level parking garage at 1101 S Wabash is slated to become a two-concept hotel. One will contain 196 rooms under the Homewood Hilton banner. The other will be an extended-stay Wabash Suites with 85 guest rooms, according to Curbed.
The Yens have been busy of late. In addition to the Hilton concept, the Yens secured a $36M loan for the Whitehall Hotel, which they will use to add an extra 108 rooms to the Streeterville hotel. [Curbed]
