A 29-Story Hilton Planned for South Loop

The owners of the Best Western Grant Park hotel in the South Loop want to build a 29-story Hilton one block west. Su-Mei Yen and Hui-Hsein Bert Yen are leading the venture to build the 281-room hotel at 1101 S Wabash.

Downtown is awash in hotel development, and cranes are in the air throughout the South Loop. The proposed site for this Hilton would attract tourists and conventioneers in a rapidly growing neighborhood. The project would include 196 regular rooms and 85 extended-stay units, according to Crain's.

The Yens' proposal is in the early stages and would need city approval. The Yens also own the Whitehall Hotel in the Gold Coast. [Crain's]
