Matthew Beaudet, the city of Chicago’s building commissioner, was appointed to the National League of Cities’ 2023 Race, Equity and Leadership Council.

Beaudet was elected to a one-year term. He will work with elected leaders to collaborate on building resources and programs for diverse communities across the country.

“I am honored and humbled to be elected to serve on the NLC’s REAL Council," Beaudet said in a press release. "As the first Native American commissioner in the history of the City of Chicago, I am grateful to be a voice for my city and community in making equity an everyday part of public planning and services."

The appointment was announced by Victoria Woodards, NLC president and mayor of Tacoma, Washington.

“Our member councils give voice to what’s happening on the ground in our communities. I am proud to have Commissioner Beaudet join NLC's REAL Council," she said in the release. "Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to address the toughest challenges facing our communities and ensure that America’s cities, towns and villages have the resources they need to thrive."

Matthews Real Estate Investment Services hired Patrick Forkin as first vice president. He is based in the firm’s Chicago office and focuses on retail investment properties.

Marcus & Millichap brokered the sale of a retail center anchored by Just Tires at 10237 Grand Ave. in Franklin Park for $4.68M. The 42K SF retail property is shadow-anchored by Jewel.

Kiser Group brokered a condominium deconversion sale at 3825 North Pine Grove Ave. in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood for $18.3M. Directors Andy Friedman and Jake Parker brokered the transaction. The building offers 94 units and 54 parking spaces.

Des Plaines-based CORFAC International announced it grew its membership with the addition of nine firms in 2022, bringing its total global affiliate offices to 75.

Chicago-based Vestian established its Sun Belt hub with the opening of a new office in Tampa Bay, Florida. The Tampa Bay office will be led by Executive Managing Director Joe McLaughlin.
