The American Cancer Society is planning to build its 32nd Hope Lodge, which offers no-cost lodging and supportive services to patients who need access to treatment.

The new building in Hyde Park is financially backed by an investment from University of Chicago Medicine and Rush University System for Health, according to a news release. UChicago Medicine is contributing the land for the future site at 5700 S. Stony Island Ave.
It is also making a $5M philanthropic investment, which, alongside Rush's support, totals more than $10M toward the campaign's $82M goal to construct the building.
“When cancer treatment requires traveling away from home, the cost of lodging can become a significant financial barrier at a time when patients and families are already carrying so much,” Shane Jacobson, CEO of the American Cancer Society, said in a statement.

Greenstone Partners closed two multifamily deals totaling about $3.3M in Wicker Park and Bridgeport. The deals were for 1226 N. Greenview Ave. and 3201-3203 S. May St. The firm's Jordan Multack facilitated both deals, with Jacob Goldstein also involved in the Bridgeport deal.

Beal Properties acquired 1515 N. Fremont St., a 98-unit multifamily property in Lincoln Park, for $20.4M from Jack Duncan of Thesis Investment Group. Marcus & Millichap's Kyle Stengle represented both parties.

BDK Express signed a 121K SF, full-building lease of a distribution facility at 951 Thorndale Ave. in Bensenville. The distribution center features 24-foot clear heights and 20 loading docks. NAI Hiffman's Paddy Dwyer, Joe Bronson and Pat Clifford represented Prologis in the lease to BDK Express.

Burlington and Planet Fitness signed long-term leases totaling about 45K SF at Nassimi Realty's Joffco Square, bringing the retail center to 100% occupancy. Burlington took over a former Ashley Furniture space, while Planet Fitness signed a lease for a former Joann Fabrics space. CBRE represented the landlord in both transactions. Metro Commercial Real Estate represented Burlington and Planet Fitness.
