Graycor Taps New CEO, First Nonfamily Member To Hold Position

Graycor, a construction company based in the Chicago suburbs, promoted Dave Wing to CEO, the first chief executive outside the Gray family to hold the title in the firm's more than 100-year history.

Wing previously worked as president and chief operating officer of the Graycor family of companies. The Bradley University graduate joined Graycor as a project engineer in 1991 and has been promoted several times since.

“Dave has been responsible for creating a culture of servant leadership and growing the business through the growth of the people,” Graycor co-Chair Matthew Gray said in a press release. “In his new role, Dave will provide direction and leadership in Graycor’s next chapter while maintaining focus on our people, our performance excellence standards, and our ever-evolving client partnerships.”

Edward Gray founded the company in 1921, starting as Chicago Concrete Breaking Co. Matthew and Steven Gray, Edward's grandsons, now serve as the company's co-chairs.

Graycor prepared for the transition to Wing for several years, it said in the release.

“I look forward to continuing my commitment to creating environments that foster teamwork, collaboration, innovation, technical excellence and mentorship,” Wing said. “I'm proud to continue working with this organization that has helped me and so many others to build their careers over the past several decades.”
