| NeoCon, the worlds' largest interior design and furniture trade show, kicked off yesterday at the Merchandise Mart and we discovered a new way you can keep up your fitness while you work. Right Angle's Chris Leonhard showed attendees the Life Balance Station, which has an elliptical trainer built into the chair and desk so you can move the lower half of your body while the upper half works on the computer. Chris says it's better than a treadmill work station (or just nervously bouncing your leg) because your upper body stays more stationary and there's less risk of falling off if you get distracted. The basic model runs around $6,000. | |
| Linak unveilled two new movable top desks yesterday, and designer Niels Gammelgaard told us about his plan to hide computer cables inside the desk. (Just call him Gammelgaard, Neils Gammelgaard.) His new desk opens along a groove in the center so wires don't get in the way of the elevation mechanism. Niels says varying the elevation of the desk throughout the day can keep office workers from getting bored and help stretch their legs. |
