Kathy MacNeil, Principal, MDA Partners in JV with Millennium Partners

Kathy is building the $630M, 975k SF Millennium Tower, the game changer in Downtown Crossing. Trained as an architect, she jumped into development in ’85 with Macomber when she realized that developers control the process. In ’98 when Millennium came to Boston, they invited Kathy and her MDA partners to JV. They’ve built the Ritz on Avery Street, One Charles Street and Millennium Place, where 256 condos sold in 18 months. At 10 St James St, they leased all the offices (with the help of Kristin Blount, another influential woman in Boston real estate) prior to completing construction. Advice: Be a jack of all trades for an industry that unites many disciplines. Always be open to learning; take classes or other skill-building courses during recessions and don’t be afraid to work hard.
